The UFC billed Anderson Silva as the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world and at UFC 82 Saturday night, the UFC middleweight champion did not disappoint.
Silva successfully defended his title against top contender and PRIDE middleweight champion, Dan Henderson.
Silva submitted Henderson with a rear naked choke late in the second round and in the process, unified the two titles.
The victory was Silva's third title defense and improves his record in the UFC to 6-0.
While the logical contenders in the middleweight division are limited, Silva's next defense will likely be against Yushin Okami, who defeated former middleweight champion Evan Tanner earlier in the night.
